This album is reissued from a release sold only at Humans shows circa 2005. As a bonus track "the emptiness is growing (live)" was added and showcases the pipes of Dan soulfully blasting away!

The Sunset During Wartime is The Humans at their most lo-fi, and noisy and it's a great example of the band mixing their musical obsessions at this time, which consisted of a strict ear diet of My Bloody Valentine's "Loveless", The Mighty Lemon Drops and The Who.

It also houses the very 1st version of the crowd favorite "Fashion Puppets" which features lush strings and guitar, echoing Ride's "Vapor Trail". Aside from having the most reverb drenched noise the band ever created, this album has the two of the bands most touching songs, "Sky" and "December's Angel". This album was the groups first attempt at seriously producing themselves, so this album is totally out there. If you will, in-vision Ride or Pale Saints recording with Factory Records mad scientist Marten Hannet and having him through some of his famous echo dub effects on the drums! The record rounds out nicely with a pair of instrumental tunes, including the title track. The overall sound of the album has loads of melody and fuzzy drippiness . This incarnation of The Humans was something to be experienced.
